About Us
Welcome to Fluency First! Our story began in China, where I first started teaching English as a foreign language. During my time there, I worked as a curriculum developer in an English school, creating engaging lessons and seeing firsthand how much joy and progress kids can experience through language learning.
After leaving China, I knew I wanted to continue that journey, so I started my own online English teaching business. For the past six years, I’ve been helping students of all ages—from young children to adults—build their English skills at every level. We cover everything from beginner basics to preparing for all of the Cambridge exams.
I love watching children and learners of all ages grow more confident, not just in their language abilities but also in their enjoyment and self-esteem as they see their own progress.
At Fluency First, our philosophy is right there in the name: we focus on fluency across all areas of English, not just one part. We want our learners to feel comfortable and capable in speaking, reading, and understanding English, making their learning experience truly holistic.

Hello, I’m Teacher Alex! With 33 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature, I’ve had the joy of teaching students of all ages. For the past decade, my focus has been on helping children successfully pass their Cambridge exams.
